Turned off by the thought that it is indeed the trendy sushi place to be, but also attracted to it because EVERYONE says it’s sooooo good, I finally gave in and went to sushi fever.
Being in Las Vegas, I have incredibly low expectations for the caliber of fresh fish. So, in I went, wondering what all the buzz was about this place. The patrons and atmosphere was definitely indicative of a “trendy” place for sushi. ’nuff about the atmosphere, tho. On to the food…
1. 25 Piece Sashimi Platter – Ahi Tuna, White Tuna, Albacore, Yellowtail and Salmon. Actually pretty good! Not fishy at all AND how did that happen on a Sunday?! (The White Tuna was very cold and had a very refrigerated texture. However, the refrigerated texture was saved by the fattiness.)
2. “Dale Earnheart” Sushi Roll – Never had this combination before and I like it. Tuna and tamago (egg) and the outside with spicy crab right underneath wrapped around a deep fried soft shell crab roll with a side of spicy ponzu sauce. Pretty tasty.
3. Dragon Roll – Standard unagi and avocado roll with loads of yum yum sauce. Meh. Been there, done that.
Conclusion: Not bad at all for rolls. Naked Fish still wins hands down for quality of fish. 3/5 beeps. (Echigo still numbah 1 in my heart! *Nozawa is pretty mutha’ beepin’ good, too. Yes, I am of the sushi lover faction of just having melt-in-my-mouth nigiri or sashimi.)
