I had conflicting feelings going to Nobu. I dont really care for going to trendy restaurants, but I have also been shown that good food can come out of those experiences. Nobu beverly hills was a good experience. Nobu las vegas was disappointing. Going to Nobu in Waikiki was good a good eating experience. As recommended by the server, we did family style and shared a number of dishes. Overall, food was very good and no snobbery which is what I expect in laid back O’ahu! =)
Yellowtail sashimi with Jalapeno – Fresh fish and good sauce. The start of the ponzu sauces over fishes and I didn’t mind at all.
Bigeye Tuna Sashimi Salad with Mastuhisa Dressing – Again, fresh good fish with a ponzu base sauce
Crab Tempura – Big chunks of deep fried crab. Who can resist?!
New Style Sashimi Scallop – Thinly sliced scallop in tasty sauce… see the theme here?
Chilean Sea Bass with black bean sauce – Tender. Buttery. Seared Chilean sea bass..mmmmm so juicy and so tender….
Seared Wagyu Beef (2 oz) – Thinly sliced wagyu beef in ponzu-esque sauce. Delicious fatty beef!
Pork Belly with Truffle oil and yuzu sauce – OFF MENU recommendation by our server. Best dish of the night!!!!!! So juicy and oozing piggy goodness and truffle essence. Totally artery cloggging but worth it!
Conclusion: Though they could’ve dialed down the sauciness of everything, I fell that everything was excellent, fresh and tasty. Nobu Waikiki, I will be back! 4/5 solid beeps!
